Calling all film makers! GIA's Rise Up FILM COMPETITION allows students to compete with others in GIA schools worldwide. Students can create short films in the categories of Narrative, Documentary, and Animated. All entries will be entered into the GIA Film Competition and the IndyShorts High School Film Competition. BUT three films will be selected by our GIA Judges as 'Critics' Choice' films and showcased throughout the GIA network!
Students can also receive Fine Arts high school credit for their film creations.

The Academy Award®-Qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival presented by Heartland Film is the largest shorts festival in the Midwest running in Indianapolis, Indiana, since 2018. The festival celebrates the unique, creative and captivating art of short films in a wide range of categories including horror, comedy, documentary, narrative, animated, and more.

high school competition
Indy Shorts runs the High School Film Competition, presented by founding sponsors Robert & Alison Spoonmore. Launched in 2010, the High School Film Competition encourages tomorrow’s filmmakers to follow their passion and create short films that push their talents, creativity and art to the next level. Shorts made by talented high school students from around the world will compete for the Best Student Film Awards in the categories of Narrative, Documentary, and Animated ($500 cash prize each). These category winners will then compete for the $2,500 Summer White Lynch Memorial Award, underwritten by Gary D. & Marlene Cohen.
the 2023-2024 competition
Categories
Students can create short films in the following categories:
NARRATIVE: fictional storytelling in a certain time and place.
DOCUMENTARY: non-fictional storytelling about a certain topic.
ANIMATED: fictional or non-fictional storytelling using an animation technique such as 2D animation, 3D animation, stop-motion, motion capture, or claymation.
Film Length
There is no minimum film length however films must be no more than 15 minutes and 59 seconds in length.

Submission to the IndyShorts film festival can be done here.
Submission to the GIA competition will be done via the cloud. A teacher will assist with this submission.
Three films will be selected by GIA Judges as 'Critics' Choice' films and showcased throughout the GIA network!

Arcade, a kind of traditional building in Guangzhou, is an indispensable part of Guangfu culture. We hope our young generation could learn more about it, deeply understand it, consciously protect and inherit it. This is one of our cultural identities.
